Wema Bank sponsors Babcock University Job fair

As part of Wema Bank’s continuing commitment to the socio-economic development of host communities wherever it operates, the Bank recently sponsored the Babcock University Job fair as part of its Brightest and Best Campaign. The fair provided an opportunity for graduating students of the school to meet and interact with prospective employers.

The event, held at the Babcock Business School (BBS), had a large turnout of graduating students, including the Vice President for Students Development, Dr Janet Ola, who represented the Vice Chancellor, the Vice President for Development and Strategy, Olakunle Iyanda, the Director for Development, MrMakinde Adeboye, among others.

In his comments, The President of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Prof. Kayode Makinde, expressed confidence on the quality of graduates produced by the institution. He said the institution trains students that will conquer the labour market and provide professional services that would drive the developmental initiatives of the nation. He also expressed the commitment of the institution to producing graduates that would provide quality services required to move the nation forward. He said the school introduced the job fair three years ago to encourage mutual interaction between the students and employers of labour and this has helped tremendously in creating awareness on employment opportunities for graduating students.

“Some companies came here last time and recruited our students before they went for the NYSC. So, they served with the organisation and they were employed after the service year. Our products sell because these students have been well- trained. It is not cheap education to come to Babcock”, he said.

Also in attendance were local and international organisations, who educated the students on how to meet employers’ expectations, job skills and other tips for making a fulfilling career.
