Wema Bank donates bus to LASU

As part of its support for education Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Wema Bank Plc, donated a brand new 30 seater coaster Bus to Lagos State University.

The impressive event took place at the University Senate Chamber, where the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Mr Segun Oloketuyi who led the Wema Bank team described the donation as a show of commitment and symbiotic relationship with a foremost university such as LASU.

Oloketuyi said: “Our philosophy is to add value to institutions where we operate. This is one of the event, there will be many others we shall celebrate together”. He explained; ”Our colour signifies that unique relationship we strive to have with all  stakeholders”

Commending the bank's effort, the Vice Chancellor, Prof John Obafunwa said that : “ today's event has further strengthened our hands. I believe together we will succeed in transforming LASU. I want to say a big thank you for this wonderful gesture”. Obafunwa also disclosed that Wema Bank was the only bank that has responded out of all the banks the university has held discussions with.

While cutting the ribbon to officially hand over the bus to the university management, Oloketuyi expressed that he hoped the bus would serve the purpose it was donated for, saying it was the joy of Wema Bank to donate the 30 seater coaster bus to LASU community. He then handed over the key to the university's Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Obafunwa, after receiving the key, again, thanked Wema Bank effort and said; “ the bus would be put to judicious use”.

The Registrar, Lagos State University, Mr. Lateef Animashaun Esq. On behalf of the University Management and the entire members of staff thanked Wema Bank for the thoughtful donation.

To launch the newly donated air conditioned white coaster bus, members of the University Management team, other top members of staff and the Wema Bank team had a brief official ride round the school main campus.
