Wema Bank believes in empowerment through nationwide programmes focusing on health, education, finance and environment in achieving the wellbeing of our stakeholders. Several initiatives have been set up to realize this. We also focus more investments on locally- based supplier to further support SMME (small medium and micro enterprise) growth.

The Bank launched the iVolunteer at Wema programme in 2018. iVolunteer is an employee engagement programme aimed at building a strong cohesive team, working together to make impact on societies, environments and businesses. The Bank identified specific areas of volunteering which includes financial, health, environmental and educational trainings. The iVolunteer team proffer financial literacy, discipline and budget clinic to individuals and small business owners in select areas. We have been able to reach out to over 300 individuals and small businesses and some of the businesses have started basic bookkeeping and are currently in the process of putting a structure to their business activities. So far, over 3200 staff and 1,215 hours have been contributed in the iVolunteer programme, and we expect this number to increase as we continue to expand these initiatives. Financial literacy programs are held in schools, communities all over the region of the country to educate them on financial discipline. Textbooks, notebooks, financial literacy courses are offered to the members of community and schools. Also, the Bank contributes to activities such as refurbishing public spaces and giving out of water to the community.
