Women Empowerment Programme 2019-11-13T16:15:28+00:00

The Bank embarked on several financial inclusion and empowerment programmes for women in our host communities. We are committed to providing platforms that will provide financial, social and personal empowerment to women across the various spheres in Nigeria. We will ensure we attain more partnerships and collaboration organizations to promote gender equity and inclusive economic growth. We will leverage on these platforms to drive skill acquisition, access to grants, networking and business growth.

We have an internal Network of women to encourage, equip and educate Wema women to become achievers. Also, through the Wema Women Network (WWN), we run series of Woman to Woman Open Office sessions, with a focus on developing a well-rounded woman in business, finance and career.

In 2018, we identified young women transforming small businesses in Nigeria using technology. We have tagged these women as Tech-Chics. These women are our ambassadors and mentors to other young women starting or running tech-related services. One of the Tech-Chicks Abisoye Akinfolarin, was nominated for the 2018 CNN Heroes Awards.
